Demand Congressman Huffman Support the
Rights of Palestinian Children
Terrible Crimes and a Terrible Silence

On March 30th, 2018, the world was horrified as Israel used live ammunition to shoot unarmed protesters, killing 18 and terribly wounding hundreds. A people who are demanding their basic human rights and are protesting for their right to live, are being targeted by professional Israeli snipers. "We know where every bullet landed", the Israeli military admitted. Since the campaign began 34 have been killed by the Israeli military. Including 4 children and 2 clearly identified journalists. This wanton slaughter will likely continue as Israeli War Minister Lieberman has declared "there are no civilians in Gaza."
U.S. Congress continues to fund this massacre and very few have raised any concerns. Congressman Huffman has continued his silence.
Why has Congressman Huffman remained silent?
The United States supports Israeli occupation and apartheid through military aid (over $3.8 billion a year), diplomatic backing at the U.N., and resolutions in Congress. Huffman reaffirmed his support for this massive transfer of taxpayer funds to this violent regime on May 8th, by cosponsoring HR 5141. Congress is therefore complicit in the systematic human rights violations that take place against the Palestinian people. We are disappointed that Huffman, who has shown some courage on this issue in the past, now seems to choose to side with Trump and Netanyahu. We demand better.
Urge Huffman to cosponsor this legislation.
We need to take
action to support peace, justice, and human rights for all. A
bill introduced in Congress, the
Promoting Human Rights by Ending Israeli Military Detention of
Palestinian Children Act, would prohibit Israel from using US aid to
detain, interrogate, abuse, and prosecute Palestinian children in
military courts, in violation of international law. For decades, the
US has provided Israel with more than $100 billion of assistance with
virtually no strings attached. This bill is a huge step toward demanding
transparency and accountability for how this aid is used by Israel. The
bill is
H.R. 4391, introduced by
Betty McCollum and supported by Barbara Lee and Keith Ellison.
